Too many of Philadelphia’s school buildings are in poor shape, with mold, asbestos and other physical issues that make them places where parents lament having to send their children.
“They’re filled with lead, they’re filled with asbestos, rodent infestation, all kinds of things like that,” said state Sen. Vincent Hughes, D-Philadelphia, during a news conference Wednesday. “And we send our children to schools in that kind of condition. And we all know why they exist that way: decades, if not centuries of discriminatory funding in public education.” Read more>>>
